Non-Subscriber Claims
What happens after a work injury?
- have Workers’ Compensation insurance, or
- are what is called a “Non-Subscriber.”
The Texas Department of Insurance explains:
“Workers’ compensation is a state-regulated insurance system that ensures medical bills and some lost wages are paid for employees injured on the job. Texas does not require most private employers to have workers’ compensation insurance coverage. Employers not providing workers’ compensation insurance coverage are referred to as non-subscribers.”
Marye Law does not handle Workers’ Comp cases. However, if you believe your employer is a Non-Subscriber, it will be important for you or the injured employee to work with an attorney to establish any negligence of the employer and any grounds for recovery the injured party may have to compensate for medical bills, lost wages, and/or future wages; compensation for mental anguish or pain and suffering; and for exemplary damages.
